Nowadays, technology has witnessed an unprecedented boom in modern society as people attach
greater importance to improving their life quality through updating their electrical devices in
order to keep up with latest information from social media. Some people claim that social media
is responsible for exposing some certain negative effects. However, from my perspective, it is
still an advisable way to express personal views through social media.
To begin with, social media provide different kinds of platforms to help people express themselves
freely without the limitation of time and place. Owing to the prevalence of Internet, more and
more applications emerge such as WeChat, Facebook and Weibo, enriching people’s opportunity
of showing their personal views to the largest extent. People from all walks of life benefits from
them a lot as they gradually become an essential part of life that cannot be replaced. For
students, they are able to catch up with latest news and interact with other web users to exchange
their feelings in different fields. To be more specific, they can discuss academic questions,
political events or even gossip affairs, which not only broaden their horizon but also cultivate
their ability of critical thinking. For common citizens like white collars, various types of social
media make them a huge role in politics. Thanks to the policy of the government, their
rights of informing and participating is widely guaranteed so that they are able to give out their
suggestions to nation policies through social media. Due to the fierce competition of society,
it is an excellent way for them to release pressure and elevates their inner sense of social
belonging. To conclude, as a special product of modern society, social media considerably
provides convenience for people to express themselves.
Secondly, expressing personal views through social media is beneficial to avoid embarrassment.
Considering the circumstances that lots of people tend to go abroad for education and work,
they always have to contact their family with WeChat or QQ. Sometimes it is really hard for
their parents to express concern and love directly, and fortunately, social media helps solve
this kind of problems. They can send texts whenever they want to fully express their sincere
emotions. What’s more, social media also work in another embarrassing situation when
friends fight with each other and no one is willing to speak first. Vivid pictures, stickers and
lively shots are some functions available to break the ice with an interesting way. Besides,
we can hide behind the character that we want to show to others to experience different
life styles and communicate in corresponding ways.
It is true that social media expose certain danger that the increasing scenes of violence
and pornography may inevitably pollute online environment and cause imitation among
teenagers. However, the whole nation is ready to make concerted efforts to enhance
administration and supervision to prevent it from happening. From what has been
discussed above, it is apparent that social media is a good way to express personal views.
